Three Questions With Author and Syndicated Columnist Ashleigh Brilliant

Ashleigh Brilliant: Special Guest for First Event of Winter 2014 “CLL Presents” Series

On Friday, January 17th at 12 noon, CLL invites the community to experience Author and “Pot-Shots” Syndicated Cartoonist Ashleigh Brilliant at the SBCC Schott Campus Auditorium.

London-born Ashleigh Brilliant, now residing in Santa Barbara, inspires and motivates others to create positive change in their lives through sharing of life experiences, and encouraging the development of nurturing self-esteem. Brilliant has been praised by the Wall Street Journal and is the creator of the popular “Pot-Shots” syndicated cartoon series.

Brilliant’s presentation, “Living With Insanity,” is the winter term presentation for the very popular “Self-Esteem: Seek It and Keep It” class.

1. What does the title mean?
I wanted to get people intrigued and curious. It’s about exactly what the title is about!

2. Where to you get your Inspiration?

Everywhere! I get inspiration from the people I meet and who are around me, and they things that happen around me. I’ve got more inspiration than I know what to do with (this with his great chuckle).

3. Any new projects?
Yes, I am working on putting my work into an e-Book or series of e-Books to make my work more accessible.

About Ashleigh Brilliant
After earning his Ph.D. in history at University of California at Berkeley, Ashleigh Brilliant taught at a community college in Bend, Oregon. He later found his way to San Francisco, where during the “Summer of Love” he gave lectures and recorded clever melodies about his and others personal experiences during that time. The Wall Street Journal described him as “History’s only full time professional published epigramist.” An example is “By the miracle of teaching, I can give some of my ability, without losing any of it myself.” Come hear about his life and experiences.

This event is presented in collaboration with the Santa Barbara Council for Self Esteem.

To ensure a seat, attendees are advised to register in advance. The SBCC CLL website is www.sbcc.edu/cll. The link to the registration page for this class is here.
