What’s New in Fine Arts at the CLL?

What’s New in Fine Arts at the CLL?  New Year’s Resolutions? We have you covered! Whether you’re a professional or an aspiring artist, come chart your 2015 adventure in art, starting with one of our newest hands-on classes and workshops. These classes fill fast, so be sure to register early. NEW ART CLASSES FOR 2015! Here are a just a few of our brand new classes for 2015: ●    Animals Alive: Drawing at the Zoo ●    Landscape Oil Painting from Photos ●    Secret Power of Words as Art To view all Arts classes, click here.  NEW!   Animals Alive: Drawing at the Zoo 9 Tuesdays, beginning January 20th10 a.m. – 1 p.m.  Looking for a new type of drawing class outside of the classroom? Drawing animals and birds is an exciting and fascinating type of portraiture, and involves unique skill sets. Enjoy meeting your class and teacher at the Santa Barbara Zoo to draw rare and exotic animals live, rather than from photography. Learn how to break down the structure of an animal with basic shapes, develop the ability to capture animals' gestures in their movement and enhance your drawings with varying forms and textures. Class Cost: $180 NEW! Landscape Oil Painting from Photos 10 Thursdays, beginning January 15th  9:30 a.m. – 11:30 p.m.  Good photographs are just the jumping off point for creating great landscape paintings. Paint with more dynamic colors by applying one of the three great color schemes. This course includes instruction and demonstration of creating an oil painting from a photo from start to finish. You will analyze your photo through drawing, color mixing and completion. You then will create paintings from your own photos, with individual hands on help and critique from the instructor. Class Cost: $100 NEW!  Secret Power of Words as Art  4 Mondays, beginning January 26th  6 p.m. – 9 p.m.  Do you love language, phrases, letters, words? We'll explore words using paint, wood, paper and mixed media to get your message out. You can use provocative paintings or some 3-D objects that merge philosophy, literature, and your own playful ideas. Discover how this unique technique and create wonderful new and exciting pieces.
