Alice Keck Park Memorial Garden is a living, 3-dimensional gallery demonstrating the application of basic design principles. Learn to see garden design as more than a collection of colorful flowers and gain a better understanding of the multiple roles plants can play in the landscape. Class Cost: $25

    Summer Term Tuition Assistance


    SBCC Center for Lifelong Learning will accept applications for tuition assistance for summer classes April 6 – May 8, 2015. Interested students may apply for a $75 tuition e-voucher. Applicants who apply for tuition assistance must demonstrate financial need, and are limited to one voucher per term, and two vouchers per academic year.
    Here are THREE ways you can apply for Tuition Assistance for Summer Term 2014:

    1. Fill out the application online (click here).
    2. Download a printable form, fill it out and bring it to either the Schott Campus or Wake Campus.
    3. Come to either the Schott Campus or Wake Campus to pick up a form.

      5 Tuesdays, beginning April 7
      6:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m.
      Students enhance their ability to draw and paint the human figure. Short and long poses by live models contribute to skill acquisition in perception, expression, composition, and proportion. Class Cost: $99 Materials Cost: $5

      Paint with Thread
      4 Tuesdays, beginning April 7
      1 p.m.-3 p.m.
      Learn the traditional Japanese technique of painting with thread (Bunka Shishu) as you create amazing pictures resembling fine oil paintings. Join an experienced teacher as we explore a wide variety of techniques, from simple to complex adaptions. Class Cost: $40


      Landscape Oil Painting from Photos
      9 Thursdays, beginning April 9
      9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
      This class includes instruction and demonstration of creating an oil painting from a photo from start to finish. You will analyze your photo through drawing, color mixing and create paintings from your own photos, with individual hands-on help and critique from the instructor. Class Cost: $135 Materials Cost: $5

      CLL Spring Term Music Classes

      Make Music at the CLL

      This spring, the CLL is offering music classes that fit your schedule. Whether you’re a professional or an aspiring musician, the CLL has hands-on classes and workshops, just for you! Stimulate your brain and keep it healthy with these music classes, starting soon!       5 Mondays, beginning April 6
      6 p.m.-8 p.m.
      Do you have a desire to play music but don't want to commit the kind of time it takes to master any instrument? Grab a Harmonica and start playing the blues without being bogged down with too much music theory or an expensive instrument. Class Cost: $75



      9 Tuesdays, beginning April 7
      9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.
      Learn vocal techniques, song interpretation, tone, pitch, dynamics and performance technique to effectively perform choral music in front of an audience. Class Cost: $90 Materials Cost: $5

      7:15 p.m.-8:45 p.m.
      This class is open to all levels! Develop both musicianship and confidence through an introduction to beginning and intermediate level theory. Performance opportunities will be available for those who want to share what they have learned. Class Cost: $81
